〈I〉
⑴ 人間が地球環境と生態系に大きな影響を与える新たな地質時代のことで、氷に覆われていないほぼ全ての陸地が何らかの形で人間によって変質され、世界の主要河川のほとんどがダムや灌漑に利用され、人間が育てた作物や乗り物、発電所が排出する窒素や二酸化炭素が大気の成分を変化させ、人間と家畜の総重量が魚類を除く野生動物の合計を大きくうわまわり、種の絶滅と創造の主要因となっているという具体的影響が見られる。
⑵ 当たり障りのない「地球規模の変化」というレッテルの貼られた変化が凄まじい速度で進行しているので、同等の例は地球上にほんのわずかしかなく、最も最近のものだと恐竜の支配を終わらせた隕石の衝突だが、それも6,600万年前である。
⑶ 支配の問題に対する答えがあるとすれば、それはさらなる抑制となるだろう。今となっては、制御しなければならないのは人間とは離れて存在する、あるいは存在すると思われている自然ではない。そうでなく、新たな取り組みは作り変えられた惑星から始まり、その作用の向きを逆にすること、つまり、自然を支配するのではなく、自然に対する支配を制御することになる。
〈II〉
⑴ この情報の不安定さは主要テック企業、特にソーシャルメディア業界の企業によって提供されるオンラインサービスがますます採用されることで増幅されてきた。そのような企業にとって知識の保存は純粋に商業的な理由だからである。
⑵ 「我々は情報の中で溺れているが、知識に飢えていえる」という意味で、コンピュータとインターネット接続によって誰でも利用できるデジタル情報の量が膨大に増えたが、そのような知識の効果的検索方法がいまだ確立されていない状態を意味している。
⑶ 我々がオンライン上のやりとりを通して生み出す知識は我々の中の大多数には目に見えないものだが、その情報が商業的利益や政治的利益を得るために社会に敵対的に操作され利用されうるという問題もある。そのような情報を完全に消去することはプライバシーの侵害を懸念する多くの人にとって短期的には望ましい結果となるかもしれないが、最終的には社会を毀損することになるかもしれない。

Among numerous pleasures of traveling are views you get from the car window. When you can enjoy the natural scenery from the window, it can be a delight to watch. However, the views of ordinary villages or city streets are not so bad to look at. People that you see in these places, and probably will never meet in life, live with their own pleasures and sadness. Thinking this way gives me a little relief, making me feel as if my troubles had gone.

What is most important when doing research at university is to give due respect to other scientists. For one thing, the subject matter any scientist chooses builds on many discoveries that have long been accumulated. Therefore, scientists should bear in mind that their ground-breaking discoveries would be not just because of their own genius but the efforts of other scientists whose accomplishments led you there. Moreover, scientific research can be considered a social act. For any knowledge to be truly scientific, it should be tested by other scientists. To put it another way, scientists work together to examine whether a theory is valid. This can be done around mutual respect. (110)
